6 years – Radio Show Host and Reporter for Hispanic Nation on Hawaii Public Radio’s Sabor Tropical show. Reported on local, national and international on Hispanic Issues
3 years – President of the Latin Business Hawaii Chamber of Commerce (LBH), Villa helped in creating the first ever “Keiki-to-College” (low-income Hispanic preschool kids and college students) Scholarship fund. Through the monthly LBH mixers, the organization was able to give away more than $15,000 to pre-schoolers and college students. Also created the Annual Hawaii Hispanic Achievement Awards, in which we acknowledge Hispanics throughout Hawaii that have not only helped Hispanics in Hawaii, but Hawaii as a whole.
2 years – Account Executive, for Pacific Business News, a subsidiary of the Wall Street Journal, selling advertising space for the newspaper.
In 2009 Villa was recruited by the United States Census Bureau to use her position as president of the Latin Business Hawaii Chamber of Commerce to become the Hispanic spokesperson in the state of Hawaii. Villa had to research and develop abstracts for speaking opportunities by establishing partnerships with organizations throughout the state of Hawaii, in both the private industries and the public sector.
Selected by the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii (the statewide Chamber with 1,200 members) one of their “Business-To-Business Ambassadors” to help them recruit and retain members.
